Efrafa

Considering its vital importance to Watership Down, the terrain around Efrafa might perhaps be considered somewhat dull. Nevertheless, there are several locations here which need to be remarked upon.

Point 15 marks the Crixa, the centre of Efrafa. The Near Hind Mark holes, to which Bigwig was assigned when spying in the warren, are just to the SW of the crossroads. The ash tree (another feature of WD no longer in existence in reality) was at point 16, while the roadless railway arch is (though quite hard to see on the map) at point 17.

Point 18 marks the place at which Kehaar launched his attack on Woundwort, while the punt on which the Watership rabbits, Efrafan does and Blackavar escaped on the River Test was lying at point 19, just to the west (downstream) of the plank bridge. (The somewhat less lonely bridge they had crossed the previous night is marked at point 20.)
